Available only to registered and paid up members of the Apple developers program. As part of the program I am not allowed to discuss details other than to say it's better than v3.1.3 and look forward to the full release.
Most of the apps on the phone worked correctly. The two that failed, Sky's Sports app (mentioned below) and the second one isn't an app as such, it's a configuration profile that allows me to use my iPhone (and my unlimited data plan) as my internet connection. Very handy for times when I just need to quickly connect my laptop up to the internet but can't find an open network to do so.
Unfortunately tethering is not present in the beta release. This is not a fault of the beta, as Apple make clear, the release is not for a production environment. This means in English, don't install this beta on anything other than a dedicated test phone and if you ignore the advice you are on your own.
Fair enough, but if you are like me, you will view this disclaimer as a direct challenge and install anyway. Like I did. All was good, missed the football but hey I had something cool in exchange.
Now, I'm away up north for a couple of days staying with my Mum from Monday. Mum is a complete technophobe and does not have internet whatsoever. I use my tethering to keep my internet continuity.
Fail! I have to revert back to software version 3.1.3 to be able to use tethering. Ah well for the next 3 days I can suffer the pain of using 3.1.3. and will post a better review of what's good about the new software after I have returned to internet land.
